Remember as the ice thickens and many of us take to our quads and snowmobiles, there are some safety concerns that you should be aware of:
- MI DNR ORV License and Permit Requirements
- MI DNR Operator-Age Restrictions
- MI DNR Education & Safety
- The Handbook of Michigan Off-Road Vehicle Laws
- Helmet Law 2013 HB 5191 In Michigan, all ORV riders MUST wear an approved helmet and eye protection at ALL times when operating their ORV, regardless of age or experience level. A helmet is also mandatory for any passengers on the ORV.
Also be careful when towing a sled or shanty. Ropes can get caught up in wheels or tracks, you might want to consider getting a tow bar or other rigid connection to your ORV.
So get your ORV sticker and helmet and check the ice thickness to make sure you are safe on the ice.
