Great news! The Grillin Guys will be joining us Thursday night to grill up some tasty treats.
Remember as the ice thickens and many of us take to our quads and snowmobiles, there are some safety concerns that you should be aware of:
- MI DNR ORV License and Permit Requirements
- MI DNR Operator-Age Restrictions
- MI DNR Education & Safety
- The Handbook of Michigan Off-Road Vehicle Laws
- Helmet Law 2013 HB 5191 In Michigan, all ORV riders MUST wear an approved helmet and eye protection at ALL times when operating their ORV, regardless of age or experience level. A helmet is also mandatory for any passengers on the ORV.
Also be careful when towing a sled or shanty. Ropes can get caught up in wheels or tracks, you might want to consider getting a tow bar or other rigid connection to your ORV.
So get your ORV sticker and helmet and check the ice thickness to make sure you are safe on the ice.
Once again the MI Ice Guys are setting aside an afternoon of fishing to invite youths out to learn and try ice fishing. In conjunction with scouts from numerous troops, we will be inviting youths accompanied by a parent or grandparent to join us on Reeds Lake in East Grand Rapids. On the ice activities will be behind the Fire Barn for East GR.
Over the weekend we had some issues on the site. I think I have them all fixed so we can get back to business. How about getting a ice report for us and posting to the Ice Map
Have you charged the battery in your flasher? Many forget to give these a charge over the off season. If neglected, many batteries will go bad. Take a few moments this fall to check it out and give it a charge. Check all the stuff you left in the garage while your at it. If you need a new battery you have time to do a little shopping, or head for the local bait shop and get one before everyone storms the store on first ice.

Wow, what a great Saturday. Big thanks to our Sponsors K&E Stopper Lures, Al & Bob’s Sports, Schnitz Deli, and Joppie from the Grillin Guys for cooking.
With over 50 kids, the guys and I had a great time setting up the kids and teaching them some basics of Ice Fishing. Even the little brothers and sisters some of them brought along had a great time. We were able to send all our donated equipment home with future master anglers. We even had patches for all the scouts that attended! Any of you that missed out – stay tuned we will be planning another one in Feb 2019! Oh, here look at all the fun!
